Colegio de San Juan de Letran has designated Ms. Jemlyne Javier Romero, MA as Officer-in-Charge in the Library Services Department for the second semester of Academic Year 2025–2026, ensuring continuity in the delivery of said unit and academic support services.

Ms. Romero brings with her over a decade of dedicated service to the institution, having begun her professional journey at Letran in June 2009. Throughout her tenure, she has supported a wide spectrum of the academic community—from Kinder pupils to Graduate School students, as well as faculty and institutional stakeholders—contributing to a responsive and service-oriented library environment. Her experience has enabled her to develop competencies in user-centered library services, collaboration, and innovation, aligned with the evolving information needs of the Colegio.

In her initial direction for the Library Department, Ms. Romero emphasized that “priority will always be given to user-centered library services,” particularly in sustaining access to updated print and digital resources, strengthening information literacy initiatives, and developing inclusive learning spaces that support academic engagement.

She likewise affirmed her commitment to the community, stating, “I remain sincerely committed to supporting the academic and research needs of the Letran community,” and called on Letranites to actively utilize library resources in fostering a culture of excellence, intellectual curiosity, and lifelong learning.

Ms. Romero succeeds Ms. Carolyn De Jesus, MA, who served as Chief Librarian for nearly three decades. Her tenure provided stability and direction in the development of the Colegio’s library system, contributing significantly to its role as a central academic resource.

The appointment forms part of the Colegio’s continuing efforts to ensure the effective delivery of academic services and uphold its tradition of excellence in education.
