Professorial chair named after alumnus

Colegio de San Juan de Letran, through the College of Business Administration and Accountancy, recognized the achievements of Cesar Cabreza Zalamea with the establishment of a Distinguished Professorial Chair in Finance at the Marriot Hotel in Pasay last February 29.

Named after Zalamea, the professorial endowment fund celebrates passion and excellence, traits that are prominent with products of the Colegio.

A proud alumnus, Zalamea has figured in successes in the field of Finance. He currently serves as the Chairman of Focus Range International Limited, Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation, and Starr International Company. He also held a number of high positions in different organizations, even serving as president and head of Private Equity and Direct Investment of Asia at American International Group (AIG) Global Investment Group. In 2005, he retired as AIG Senior Vice President after serving the company for more than 50 years.

Zamalea also worked for the Philippine government twice – as Deputy Director General of the Presidential Economic Staff and as Chairman and CEO of the Development Bank of the Philippines.

Zalamea received his Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Letran and his Master’s from New York University.
