The Center for Community Development (CCD), with the Quadricentennial Celebration Committee, spearheaded the Letran 2020 Tree Planting project, held at Pamusuan in Norzagaray, Bulacan last September 7.
The main goal was to plant 2,019 seedlings with the 2,020th seedling set to be planted at the Colegio itself.
According to Asst. Prof. Leo Bernadas, the CCD head, the tree planting is in support of the National Greening Program and is an initiative under the De Esperanza Community Development Program. The environmental project was also done as part of an agreement with the Briquettor Association of the Philippines, Inc. and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
Employees, students, alumni, and parents volunteered in planting hardwood and fruit-bearing seedlings. Representatives from the DENR gave proper training to the volunteers on how to plant the seeds.
Bernadas shared that Letran hopes to oversee the progress of the tree planting until such time that they can turnover it to the habitants of Pamusuan.
