Trends, issues in the labor sector tackled in third phase of Kapihan series

The third year Legal Management students continued the Letran Kapihan 2018 series, conducting a seminar on “The Millennials’ Job Dilemma: Unemployment, Underemployment, and Mismatch” last February 19 at the Del Pilar Hall.
The seminar’s purpose is to enlighten the youth on the trends and issues in the labor sector and to impart practical advices to graduating students in applying for their first job.
The resource speakers were Directress Dominique Rubia-Tutay from the Department of Labor and Employment and Monica Palomares from Jobstreet Philippines. They were able to discuss the reasons of unemployment, underemployment and mismatch among the millennials. Nowadays, it is a given that companies are looking for job seekers work experience as part of qualifications. Certain problems in the labor market were also discussed and how to mitigate those concerns through the effort of the government and industry.
