Letran Knight Snap, the lone photography club in the Colegio, captured the Philippine Junior Photo World Cup (JPWC) 2016’s School Camera Club of the Year title, surpassing all the participating schools in the Metro.
Rhon Paulo Velarde, a senior Advertising student and one of the founders of the club was named Photographer of the Year. Paul Sugano, a Communication sophomore, and Alfonso Luis Tamondong, a Journalism junior, were among the top 10 Photographers of the Year ranking sixth and seventh, respectively.
The awarding ceremony was held at Glorietta Mall in Makati last January 28, where the winning photographs were also exhibited.
The junior photographers showcased their skills and creativity in photography guided by the weekly themes: long exposure, reflection, sunset and sunrise, red, poverty, shapes and forms, and sweets. All participating schools were asked to submit at least three entries per week.
Knight Snap won the said title after consecutively earning ranks for every given theme during the month-long photography competition.
Velarde ruled the second week of the competition, getting first and third best photo for the Long Exposure theme. He also earned a spot in the reflection, food and poverty themes.
For the theme poverty, Tamondong and Abigail Arendain’s entries were among the best photos while Kyana de Asis and Sugano’s photos landed on the top 10 best photos for the long exposure theme.
Arendain’s sunset and sunrise photo clutched the third place during the fourth week of the cup.
Other members of Knight Snap are Inaki Pelonio, Charles Datuin, John Louie Adriano, Pamela Bangayan, and Lois dela Paz.
