JANUARY 21 - THE COLEGIO held a solemn celebration today as the 800th Jubilee of the Order of Preachers was officially ended in the Philippines.

Rev. Fr. Boyd Sulpico, OP, the Executive Vice President, presided over the mass held at the Letran Chapel. It was attended by the priests of the convent of St. John Lateran, school administrators, and the laity.

In his homily, Sulpico said that the faithful must renew its commitment to God. He said that through “the Spirit of the Risen Christ”, God’s people must joyfully proclaim the Gospel of Peace.

Sulpico formally closed the Jubilee Doors of the chapel after the mass.

The Dominican community gathered yesterday, January 20, at the Santo Domingo Church in a celebration headed by the Most Rev. Socrates Villegas, OP, DD, the Archbishop of Lingayen-Dagupan and president of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.

Villegas encouraged the Dominicans to pray well, study well, play well, eat well, and sleep well – all of which are important to live a balanced Dominican life. He also spoke of the “Wonder Quotient” which is “the ability to be in awe at the mystery of God and to have faith in Him.”*
